7-9 Crownest Lane
Crownest Lane
Bingley
This tenth anniversary year is a special time for all who live at Crownest Lane, plans are already underway for a celebration.
In 1991 Catholic Care opened two linked houses for adults with learning disabilities. During the last 10 years, staff and 10 dependent adults have built a secure and happy home. For the first few years the adjoining houses were organised as separate units, but gradually the residents themselves dictated a more integrated arrangement.
Three residents have lived at Crownest since its opening and are a testimony to the dedicated staff who provide support to allow them to live full and varied lives. You may well meet one of them working in a charity shop, on the way to sing in a church choir or looking for bargains in the town centre. Visitors to Crownest Lane are welcome and never fail to comment on the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. This friendliness is taken out into the community of Bingley where they are all known, often by name, in the local shops and cafes. This truly is Care in the Community.
