Each year the Diocese allows Catholic Care to make an appeal for funds to undertake its work within the Diocese.  This work, which has grown from the work started by Catholics in this Diocese in the middle of the 19th Century, is a vital sign of the presence of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church within today’s often difficult and unwelcoming society.  It is not easy work, but it is a real reflection of our love for our neighbours in the midst of their overwhelming difficulties.

2006 was our eighth Annual Appeal held in the Churches of the Diocese over the weekend of 25th and 26th March.  So far we have received £17,797, last year’s total response was £21,043.  The Bishop as always is supportive and appreciative of the tremendous efforts that the parishes make for this appeal.
