At the end of June Kath Burrows retired after 23 years of dedicated service at Catholic Care’s Residential Children’s Home in Leeds. Kath joined the Charity in 1992, initially as a Care Assistant. Her previous experience in nursing, and caring for the elderly both in a residential setting and in outreach work, as well as her voluntary work with the National Children’s Homes Touchline and her experience as a foster carer gave her the necessary skills to quickly move on to the post of Deputy Manager and then to Registered Manager in 1999.
This Children’s Home has long been a success story, both within Catholic Care and also in the wider community of Leeds, being especially recognised for the quality of its child care. Much of its success in later years has been down to Kath, her strong leadership skills and commitment to the many young people she has cared for and supported, we know she has had such a positive influence on many. She gained the respect of her colleagues and fellow professionals and left a great legacy for her team to build on.
We wish Kath a long, happy and well earned retirement.
