Catholic Care is a member of the national Embrace Project which supports parishes to engage with the older members in their communities to address loneliness and social isolation. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Silsden is the first parish to have started an Embrace group and, on the 1st August, the first Tuesday Friendship Group celebrated Yorkshire Day in style as only true Yorkshire folk can with some dialect verse, poetry, jokes, brass band music and singing.
There was a lot of laughter and everyone enjoyed Yorkshire parkin, Wensleydale cheese scones and fat rascals – plus their Yorkshire themed raffle winnings! It was fair Champion!
The next meeting of the group will be on Tuesday, 5th September at 1.30 pm where people will learn about seated exercises and try a few moves …….
